Role Overview:

Myant is looking for an organized, detail-oriented and process-focused Accounts Payable Specialist to support Accounts Payable activities across our multi-entity organization.

This role is responsible for ensuring supplier invoices, corporate credit card transactions, approvals, payments and related accounting records are processed accurately, completely and within the appropriate accounting period.

You will work closely with the existing AP team, Purchasing, Finance and other departments to strengthen the end-to-end Accounts Payable process — from purchase order and receipt through invoice approval, payment and reconciliation.

This is an opportunity for someone who sees Accounts Payable as more than invoice entry. As Myant continues to prepare for future ERP transformation and AP automation, you will contribute to standardizing workflows, strengthening controls, reducing manual processes and helping build scalable Finance processes.

Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable

  • Process supplier invoices accurately and on a timely basis across multiple legal entities.
  • Review invoices for appropriate supporting documentation, coding, legal entity, tax treatment and required approvals.
  • Match invoices against purchase orders and receiving documentation, where applicable.
  • Monitor AP inboxes and ensure invoices are captured, tracked and processed without duplication or omission.
  • Maintain accurate AP aging and assist in identifying overdue and outstanding supplier balances.
  • Prepare supplier payment batches for review and approval.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve invoice, payment and statement discrepancies.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and investigate missing invoices, duplicate invoices, credits and unapplied payments.
  • Maintain appropriate supporting documentation and audit trails for AP transactions.

Corporate Credit Cards & Expenses

  • Process and reconcile corporate credit card transactions on a regular basis.
  • Follow up on missing receipts, coding and approvals.
  • Ensure transactions are recorded against the appropriate legal entity, account and accounting period.
  • Assist with improving and standardizing corporate credit card and expense-management processes.
  • Support the implementation of future expense-management and corporate-card automation.

Purchase Orders, Prepaids & Contractors

  • Work closely with Purchasing to support the end-to-end PO → receipt → invoice → approval → payment process.
  • Monitor open purchase orders and identify discrepancies requiring follow-up.
  • Maintain prepaid expense schedules and ensure amounts are appropriately expensed or reclassified as goods and services are received.
  • Review contractor invoices to ensure appropriate supporting documentation, service periods, rates, hours and approvals are provided before payment.
  • Assist Finance in maintaining appropriate contractor documentation and consistent invoicing requirements.

Month-End & Financial Controls

  • Support month-end AP cutoff procedures to ensure liabilities and expenses are recorded in the appropriate accounting period.
  • Identify invoices and expenses requiring accrual when documentation has not been fully processed by month-end.
  • Assist with AP reconciliations and month-end close activities.
  • Support accurate GST/HST and other applicable indirect-tax treatment through appropriate invoice documentation and coding.
  • Identify unusual transactions, duplicate invoices, missing approvals and other potential control issues.
  • Maintain organized documentation to support internal and external audit requirements.

Process Improvement & ERP Readiness

  • Identify recurring AP bottlenecks, manual activities and process gaps and recommend practical improvements.
  • Help standardize Accounts Payable processes across Myant's legal entities.
  • Assist in developing a consistent end-to-end invoice and payment workflow.
  • Reduce reliance on spreadsheets, manual tracking and individual process knowledge.
  • Document AP procedures, controls, approval requirements and workflows.
  • Help establish processes that are scalable and capable of transitioning into a future ERP environment.
  • Participate in ERP and AP-automation requirements gathering and process mapping.
  • Participate in testing and validating AP workflows during future system implementations.
  • Support the implementation and testing of invoice capture/OCR, electronic approvals, PO matching, duplicate-invoice controls and automated posting.
  • Assist with vendor master and AP data validation during a future ERP migration.
  • Provide practical feedback to Finance and IT regarding proposed AP system workflows.
  • Help develop SOPs and training documentation to ensure processes can be effectively cross-trained and transferred into new systems.

What You Bring

Education & Experience

  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Approximately 2–4 years of Accounts Payable or accounting experience.
  • Experience processing invoices in a multi-entity environment is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of invoice coding, purchase orders, approvals, vendor statements and payment processing.
  • Experience with corporate credit card reconciliations.
  • Familiarity with GST/HST and Canadian sales-tax documentation is preferred.
  • Experience working with an ERP or accounting system is required; Plex experience is an asset.
  • Experience with AP automation, ERP implementation or process improvement is an asset.
  • Strong Excel skills.

What Will Make You Successful

  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, particularly around payment cycles and month-end close.
  • Strong problem-solving and reconciliation skills.
  • Ability to identify discrepancies and follow issues through to resolution.
  • Comfortable working across departments and following up with stakeholders when information or approvals are missing.
  • A process-oriented mindset and willingness to question inefficient ways of working.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the broader Finance team.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for the accuracy and completeness of your work.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who views Accounts Payable as an end-to-end process, not simply invoice entry.

You will take ownership of ensuring invoices and liabilities are complete, properly supported, approved, recorded in the correct period and ultimately paid.

The right person will be detail-oriented and reliable, but also curious about why processes work the way they do. You will be comfortable identifying inefficiencies, asking questions and helping develop better ways of working.

As Myant prepares for future ERP transformation and increased automation, you will have the opportunity to contribute directly to how AP workflows, controls and automation are designed and implemented.

This is a role for someone who wants to build a strong foundation in Accounts Payable while also gaining exposure to process improvement, systems, automation and Finance transformation.
